New Orleans - National - International

  •    You may have heard the expression, “There is nothing new under the sun”. Sisterlocks are no exemption. There has been some form of microlocking since antiquity. Sisterlocks is a modern take on this ancient hairstyle. Curated by Dr. Cornwell in 1993, Sisterlocks have blossomed and taken on a world of their own.

I’m so happy you are on or are interested in starting your Sisterlocks journey. My name is Safi and I’ve been servicing crowns for well over 20+ years. Formally Sisterlocks trained and certified in 2017. As a multi-based freelancing consultant,  I am blessed to have community all over the world.

Our services include starting Sisterlocks, reties (maintenance) and self-retightening classes. Traveling to you is also an option. Clients always leave us loving their crowns but are most impressed with our level of customer service, attention to detail and efficiency.

Unfortunately there are many areas that currently don’t have enough certified consultants to keep up with the demand! If there is any way I can assist you, please connect with us at asoulcenter.com. I look forward to servicing your crown!

Much Love & continue to Be the Ritual

Retightening/Maintenance:

  • Maintenance is generally every 6-8 weeks. You may need to come earlier if you are experiencing slippage. Your hair must be clean and roots separated.  If you are staying on  schedule with your re-tightenings, the appointment typically ranges between 3-5 hours. If your reties are taking longer than 5 hrs, please consider another consultant.

Self Re-tighten Class:

  • After your Sisterlocks are settled in, which can take 6 months to a year, then you can learn how to re-tighten them yourself. I highly recommend having this skill. Reties are mandatory for Sisterlocks. If you don't keep up with them your Sisterlocks will become weak and break. All that time and money wasted. Enjoy the flexibility to maintain your Sisterlocks between appointments. Gain a sense of security when you travel or can't get to your Consultant. Reduce your long-term maintenance costs. Not wanting to retie your hair is one thing but having the skill to do so if need be is another. This class averages about 3 hours and comes with a Sisterlocks supply box with all the goodies you need to get started.

Requirements for taking the Retightening Class:

-Must provide Consultant's name (for verification)

-Must provide a locking pattern (Consultant can supply this.)

-Locks must be settled-in and no longer slipping. (minimum is 6 months locked)

-Must have at least 10 locks that need retightening. (1-2 inches in crown, front and/or side areas)

-Locks must be separated and not matted.

Starting SLs, How it works:

Getting your Sisterlocks established is a sloooowwwww process. Patience will be your best friend on this beautiful journey. Yet, what I most commonly hear is "the only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner."

There are 3 appointments, 4 including the sample lock assessment,  that we need to schedule:

  • The exchange for the consultation is $75. This will be deducted from your balance, should you decide to move forward. The hair is to be clean and product-free. We will do some sample locks and go through how to care for Sisterlocks.

  • Locking sessions are aimed to be completed within a few days. A travel pillow for your neck is highly recommended along with any other items you may need for comfort. You will receive a starter kit upon session completion. This kit includes starter shampoo, a tip sheet, rubber bands, shampooing instructions, plus a Sisterlocks Birthday certificate form.

  • A “Follow-Up” visit is included in your package. In this visit, your Sisterlocks will be retightened and assessed. It is recommended that you schedule your first few retightening visits at 4-6 week intervals.

Pricing:

Locking sessions start at $775  for up to 5 inches.

Above 5 inches are an additional

$50 (low to average density hair) per additional inch

$100 (average to high density hair) per additional inch

*Please note if you are transitioning from chemically processed hair to natural, at least 1 1/2" - 2" of new growth is necessary.

* More than 11" of hair may require 2 practitioners and custom pricing, please specify when you inquire.
